Under general supervision the Administrative Assistant supports the collection of unpaid toll road balances through various clerical and public-facing duties. Individuals in this role will be responsible for assisting with administrative hearings held multiple times a week meeting with the public to accept payments and provide account information preparing reports updating case databases and managing both physical and digital records. Additional responsibilities include generating and printing certified mail tracking numbers and barcodes handling incoming records from courts and agencies and coordinating mailings related to legal proceedings.
The Administrative Assistant is expected to possess strong organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal staff and the public

Education and Experience Requirements:

Located in downtown Houston the Harris County Attorneys Office represents Harris County government the Harris County Flood Control District the Harris County Toll Road Authority and the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network in all civil matters including lawsuits. The office also provides legal advice to county officials and employees.
Position Type and Typical Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with the typical work hours of Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.
Occasional weekends holidays and overtime may be required based on the specific needs anddemands of the department.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This position is performed in a typical office setting and involves regular use of standard officeequipment including computers telephones scanners and filing cabinets. The work is primarilysedentary involving extended periods of sitting with occasional walking or standing as needed.
In some cases the role may require standing for extended periods depending on the task. Theposition also requires manual dexterity with frequent use of hands for fine motor tasks such astyping data entry or handling small tools and equipment. Physical exertion is minimal though therole may occasionally involve lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds.
Compensation:
The base compensation for this position will be determined on the candidates qualifications and the pay of other employees in the job function. Total compensation includes attractive paid leave programs health benefits and retirement plans.
In addition the position is eligible for the accrual of compensatory time off for hours worked over 40 in a workweek consistent with Harris County personnel policies and procedures.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
