Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Greenwich to assist with the appointment of a Senior Events Officer on a 6-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 22.79 - 29.06 per hour

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Events Officer to lead the delivery of a diverse and high-profile programme of cultural community corporate and commercial events. This role plays a key part in supporting the Councils Culture Strategy and maximising opportunities for income generation stakeholder engagement and community impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning production and execution of a busy annual events programme in accordance with the Councils Event Policy.
  • Lead the third-party event application and approval process including health and safety plan assessment.
  • Provide onsite management and oversight at both outdoor and indoor events.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the boroughs Culture Strategy through collaboration with cultural community and commercial stakeholders.
  • Develop and support income-generating commercial event opportunities working towards set targets.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in end-to-end event management in a local authority or similar public-facing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements and risk management for events (IOSH or equivalent qualification essential).
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively across public and private sectors.
  • Experience in overseeing budgets and income generation.
  • Skilled in contract management and procurement processes.
  • Excellent organisational communication and leadership skills.
  • Political awareness and understanding of local government priorities.
  • Ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
