The Corporate Counsel will own and elevate the legal regulatory and compliance landscape across a complex business portfolio that spans multiple jurisdictions supply chains and regulated markets. About Primary Arms

Headquartered in Houston Texas Primary Arms is a vertically integrated company built around three core business units: optics manufacturing e-commerce and wholesale distribution and direct government sales.

We design engineer and manufacture Primary Arms Optics through a multinational supply chain that combines global OEM partnerships with U.S.-based production. Our e-commerce and wholesale divisions serve consumers and dealers nationwide with a wide selection of leading brands including firearms and tactical equipment. Our government division supplies law enforcement and other agencies through dedicated inside and field sales teams.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to lead legal and regulatory strategy across the company. This role will serve as the key internal legal advisor and point of contact for all legal and compliance matters. The Corporate Counsel will manage our legal and FFL compliance teams coordinate with outside counsel and ensure the company maintains full compliance with applicable laws and regulations across manufacturing import/export e-commerce and government sales operations.

This is a high-impact position ideal for a hands-on business-minded attorney with strong leadership skills and experience in regulated industries.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the companys lead legal advisor and strategic partner to executive leadership.
  • Manage and develop the internal legal and compliance team:
    - Four-person FFL compliance department (firearms regulatory oversight).
    - Two-person legal/contracts team (commercial agreements and corporate matters).
  • Coordinate with outside counsel across IP litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Oversee compliance with all applicable laws including ATF ITAR EAR and customs/import/export regulations.
  • Review draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts including vendor distribution licensing and government agreements.
  • Support and protect the companys growing intellectual property portfolio.
  • Provide guidance on matters related to government contracting and agency sales.
  • Develop internal policies and processes that ensure compliance and reduce legal risk.


Required Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • 7 years of relevant legal experience including in-house or law firm experience.
  • Strong background in regulatory compliance commercial contracts and intellectual property.
  • Experience in or advising regulated industries such as firearms defense or export-controlled goods.
  • Familiarity with federal firearms laws and export controls (ATF ITAR EAR).
  • Experience in patent litigation support or management is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of government sales processes or contracting is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage internal teams and outside counsel.
  • Excellent communication problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
