Legal Assistant Aboriginal/Corporate

About the Opportunity:
Our client a respected business law firm with a national presence and offices in Vancouver and Toronto is seeking a Legal Assistant to join their team in Vancouver. This role supports a group of legal professionals focused on Aboriginal law with a blend of corporate and litigation work. The ideal candidate will be proactive highly organized and comfortable in a fast-paced client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily administrative and legal support to a team of professionals working with Indigenous clients on matters related to Aboriginal environmental corporate and natural resources law
- Manage complex calendars coordinate meetings and calls with clients and stakeholders
- Prepare edit and finalize correspondence regulatory documents and legal materials
- Handle filings and submissions for Regulatory Boards and Tribunals
- Draft corporate documents (e.g. resolutions share certificates ledgers registers and minute book materials) using firm precedents
- Complete various government filings (e.g. business registrations annual returns notices of change)
- Maintain corporate records and update databases accordingly
- Organize files and assist with practice management tasks
- Book travel and accommodations for meetings when required
- Manage time entries billing and expense reporting
- Communicate professionally with internal and external contacts
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Legal Assistant preferably in both corporate and litigation settings
- Completion of a Legal Assistant or Paralegal program
- Familiarity with corporate statutes and BC legal procedures
- Knowledge of Aboriginal law considered an asset
- Strong understanding of the BC Rules of Civil Procedure is an asset
- Ability to manage competing demands and work well under pressure
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365
- Experience with legal and corporate systems such as Corplink/MinuteBox BC Online the BC Registries system Corporations Canada and Adobe Acrobat
