Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
  • One (1) year of relevant full-time EMT or related medical experience; and
  • Possession of and/or ability to obtain and maintain a State of Oregon EMT License; and
  • Possession of CPR for Healthcare Providers certification or equivalent.

Available Schedule:
  • 4/10 schedule (four 10-hour shifts per week)
  • Workdays may rotate based on operational needs
  • An alternative fixed schedule is being considered: FridayMonday

**This position includes a 4.0% combined Cost-of-Living and Salary Adjustment effective July 1 2025**

The anticipated hiring range for the Single Role EMTposition is $26.02(first step) to $27.32or $28.68(second or third step).The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education experience andqualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Three steps are included in this salary range allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This position will involve working in an indoor environment with a regulated temperature. When out in the field you will routinely encounter a wide range of conditions including frequent exposure to varying outdoor temperatures and diverse weather such as heat up to 115 degrees and cold temperatures as low as 10 degrees. There is potential for contact with bloodborne pathogens hazardous materials loud noises or being around volatile individuals. The work often takes place in unpredictable and sometimes dangerous settings such as accident scenes or disaster areas. This position requires adaptability and resilience to changing environments.

This position requires the capability to frequently lift and carry individuals often weighing over 100 pounds and to maneuver stretchers and medical equipment. The ability to stand and walk for extended periods frequently bending kneeling and crouching is essential. Stamina and endurance are essential for managing long shifts and physically demanding situations. Excellent vision and hearing are vital for assessing situations communicating effectively and detecting hazards.
