IDENTIFIED POSITION

THE ROLE

The Cultural Mentor will work with young people experiencing issues associated with identity social disconnection and family breakdown. The Cultural Mentor will provide support and guidance using a strengths-based approach.

THE IDEAL PERSON FOR THIS ROLE

Essential

Identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Understanding and commitment to Aboriginal health Aboriginal culture and the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control

Ability to work with Aboriginal organisations communities and individuals in culturally appropriate ways.

Understanding of the historical and intergenerational trauma impacts on young Aboriginal people.

Mentor and empower young people to achieve their goals by sharing knowledge culture and life experiences in a relationship of mutual trust and cultural respect.

Writing up client notes and ability to communicate verbally with people.

Desirable

Relevant qualification.

Experience in working in a not-for-profit organisation or health setting.

Other Position Related Information
