The City of Abbotsford has an exciting leadership opportunity within our Engineering and Regional Utilities Department as the Manager Development Engineering.
Reporting to the Deputy General Manager of Engineering and Regional Utilities the Manager leads the Development Engineering division in establishing and implementing design and construction standards for development. As the Manager you are responsible for the design review of works and services to support development applications and building permits. The Manager supervises and directs staff involved with processing development applications and design reviews of building and subdivision infrastructure construction. The Manager provides guidance during the development application and review process and develops and implements systems to improve the processing of development applications. The Manager makes recommendations regarding the development introduction and on-going iteration of the Citys Development Bylaw guiding the growth of the City in alignment with City Councils Strategic Plan and Councils vision for the City to be the Hub of the Fraser Valley. This Division helps to shape the future of the City and is viewed as a builder of community that will attract and retain people to live work and play in the City of Abbotsford.
As the Manager you are a collaborative leader strategic thinker and problem solver with sound judgement. You have the ability to lead motivate and engage a diverse team to create a high-performance work environment and the ability to build consensus on challenging issues and develop partnerships. You have experience as a hands-on leader and are comfortable managing many different priorities concurrently with the ability to move projects forward in a multi-stakeholder environment. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills allow you to build credible and trusted relationships at all levels throughout the organization and the community.
The successful incumbent will possess:
A Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or other related discipline with sound knowledge of municipal engineering;
A Professional Designation and/or Accreditation with EGBC or ASTTBC; and
Five years of progressive related experience including a minimum of one year in a leadership role.
