OVERVIEW:
San Diego Unified School District the second largest district in California and one of the top largest urban school districts in the United States is looking for leaders who care deeply for students inspire passion in their coworkers through collaborative leadership and are committed to the communities in which they serve. The District seeks leaders who are committed to educational equity and work to create access and opportunity for our students furthest from education justice. The District is seeking candidates for Facilities Planner to support assigned schools/area and other programs.
Under the guidance and direction of the Manager of the Instructional Facilities Planning Department the Facilities Planner will assistin the planning gathering reporting mapping and presenting statistical analyses of data related to K-12 school facilities inventory and utilization school capacities attendance boundaries facility moves and other activities of the department. The incumbent will also assist by designing and conducting collaborative long- and short-range planning projects with other government agencies District-run schools charter schools and community groups.

Some essential functions of the position description include:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training experience and/or education equivalent to graduation from a recognized four-year college or university with a major in public or business administration or another appropriate field and two (2) years of recent progressively responsible experience in educational or facilities planning activities including the planning of educational or public facilities statistical analysis and the use of computer applications in a large school district or public agency.
*Candidates with experience in using Planning related software and other applications in planning calculations mapping building floor plans and community input surveys in a large school district or public agency is highly desirable.
Note: Other related degrees/subject areas of concentration will be considered. These include Architecture Cartography Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Public Policy Population Studies and Landscape Architecture.
