Job Description
The Role
The AEC is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to work on various Projects within the AEC. The DevOps Engineer will be tasked with supporting the agency to architect and document the long-term development and deployment goals to support federal events such as elections and major projects across the AEC.
The role is responsible for undertaking very complex and/or sensitive work under broad direction utilising expertise across a range of activities relating to the design of software applications.
About the project
Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD)
The CIOD is one of two divisions within the AEC s Enterprise Transformation Group (ETG) and is responsible for delivering robust ICT functions and capabilities maintaining election-ready systems and delivering an ambitious ICT transformation and modernisation agenda. The CIOD leads and supports a range of AEC projects/programs including but not limited to the Modern Workplace Program Cloud Technology Project Polling Place Technology Project and the Election Systems Modernisation Program (Indigo Program). Indigo Program (Tranche 2) The Indigo Program is a large-scale transformation program to modernise business capabilities and replace core election ICT systems with a citizen-centric agile technology platform. The Program will transform the AEC s delivery of electoral services and ensure ongoing integrity of the electoral system. Tranche 2 comprises a variety of work packages with a focus on business process re-engineering data management legislative compliance and replacing aging systems.
Requirements
Key duties and responsibilities
The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Work effectively with the technical teams such as the development teams and DevOps teams.
- Establish and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines repositories and artefacts.
- Ensuring that cloud platforms are current in their toolsets resilient secure and automated wherever possible.
- In collaboration with other teams in the work area investigate and resolve complex issues with the operation of an application.
- Ensure deadlines are consistently met and that a high standard of technical and design documentation is provided.
- Assisting with cloud first deployment pipeline development.
- Creating and overseeing processes that manage the delivery pipeline from development through to production.
- Working with project and operational teams to orchestrate delivery pipelines across design build test deploy and run.
- Implementing continuous improvements strategy and best practice development in the CI/CD environment.
- Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as required
Essential criteria 1. A track record of delivering technology products in large organisations 2. A demonstrated understanding of what makes for a great developer experience for external users 3. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams that follow agile and user-centred design practices 4. Experience working on large Government transformation programs highly regarded Desirable criteria 1. Knowledge, experience of, and relationships with the agriculture technology industry 2. Delivery of technology to support regulatory decision-making processes 3. Experience delivering to the Australian Government Digital Service Standard
