Portland Public Schools: Elementary Interventionist Teacher

Portland Public Schools seeks an innovative and passionate education professional to join our intervention teaching team to enhance the educational experience for our students in individual or small group settings.

The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:

Exceptional communication analysis interpersonal and organizational skills
Understanding of or demonstrated training in PBIS and MTSS initiatives
Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment common sense and a calm demeanor
Impeccable character a good sense of humor and compassion for students families and staff
Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning practices
Demonstrate strong classroom management skills with the use of positive behavior interventions
Experience in working with special needs students
Willingness to undertake extra-curricular assignments

Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:

A Bachelors degree or higher
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Elementary Endorsements (ZG)

A minimum of 3 years teaching experience as a certified teacher 5 years preferred

Strong base in the subject area content common core standards
Ability to use assessments and student data to drive meaningful instruction
Demonstrate knowledge of how to provide effective and engaging instruction in a variety of settings (whole group small group individual and collaborative)
Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with students staff parents and district colleagues
Demonstrated ability to maintain and improve student achievement outcomes
Willingness to contribute to a safe school climate of high expectations and strong collaboration high staff and student morale and positive community involvement

Position Details:

Title: Interventionist Teacher
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Secondary Education
Calendar: As per the District Calendar and PEA contract
Compensation: In accordance with PEA contract
