Job Title: Family Resource Coordinator - Temporary

POSITION SUMMARY

The job of Family Resource Coordinator is done for the purpose of identifying and connecting with families who have children in the Forest Grove School District to facilitate a connection to community services and resources. This position maintains a strong working relationship with community partners and school district staff. This position also coordinates and facilitates parenting education events.

This position supervises staff at the Family Resource Center and reports to the Director of Student Services or designee.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and Support Family Resource Center

  • Manages the comprehensive school-based Family Resource Center that offers both information and a variety of social services connections and resources.
  • Provides assistance with clothing hygiene housing and other community based resources.
  • Supervises staff at the Family Resource Center
  • Develops and Manages the resource guide for families and related district webpages
  • Seeks out develops and maintains funding and partnerships to support access to resources and serve families including but not limited to: applying for grants finding local partners and developing partnerships to support family and student needs.
  • Monitors budgets and spending for various grants as needed.

Basic Needs System Support

  • Develops and manages district referral processes for families seeking support.
  • Collaborates with school personnel (e.g. teachers counselors administrators mental health care coordinators) for the purpose of identifying students and families seeking community based resources.
  • Identifies and connects with families who have children in the Forest Grove School District connecting them to community based services social services and other district resources.
  • Engages families in parenting classes and workshops that empower parents to help prepare their children for success in school.
  • Facilitates regular collaboration meetings with other district family engagement positions
  • Attends outreach activities such as community and school events including occasional evening and weekend meetings/events.
  • Collects and monitors data develops and writes reports and presents documents.
  • Assists with marketing and public awareness as needed.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets with families in multiple environments such as schools libraries child care settings homes etc.
  • Maintains consistent and predictable attendance to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Participates in professional development activities as required by the district
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent; 72 quarter hours of accredited college or equivalent education or passing score on Work Keys Test. Bachelors Degree in Social Service or related field of study preferred.

Experience: Prior job related experience paid or volunteer with school age children families and community organizations. Experience with delivering effective trainings. Experience planning developing and evaluating programs. Supervisory experience.

Skills: Fluently bilingual (Spanish/English) in both oral and written skills. Operate a computer office machines telephone and other technology equipment. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills. Skills to communicate with parents students staff and community using English and Spanish in verbal and written form use correct grammar punctuation and spelling and perform basic mathematical calculations. Excellent data skills including collection analysis and use of data for decision-making.

Knowledge: Knowledge of local community based resources and strategies for helping families connect with resources.

Abilities: Work harmoniously with others. Work and communicate effectively with students parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English Spanish or other languages related to the job. Work independently without supervision and with minimum oral/written instructions. Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods understand and carry out oral and written instructions maintain confidentiality of student records meet schedules and deadlines read/interpret/apply rules regulations and policies. Ability to perform clerical functions. Ability to problem solve. Significant physical abilities include lifting/reaching/handling talking/hearing conversations near/far visual acuity moving to various locations within the classroom and school.

Continuing Education/Training Clearances: Pre-employment criminal justice fingerprint clearance and criminal background check. Valid Oregon Drivers License.
