Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation team in Jacksonville FL. This role will collaborate with a team of engineers to deliver traffic engineering projects throughout the state of Florida. The Traffic Engineer will perform routine traffic engineering tasks including but not limited to data collection traffic analysis traffic signal design signing and marking and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) planning and design.

Candidates local to Jacksonville FL preferred. Candidates will have the ability to work a hybrid schedule but will be required to attend internal and external client meetings in person as needed.

This role will sit within the larger Global Mobility Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change urbanization and digitization trends are requiring todays mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the worlds growing population. We design connected sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

• Collaborate with a team of engineers to deliver traffic engineering tasks on a wide range of transportation projects.
• Work efficiently and effectively to complete tasks within the required project schedule and budget.
• Implement assigned tasks independently and exercise independent judgement and evaluation
• Develop proficiency in methodologies used to conduct traffic engineering studies including Highway Capacity Manual Manual on Uniform Traffic Control and Devices Highway Safety Manual NCHRP Reports and AASHTO.
• Develop proficiency in traffic design including signal design permanent signing pavement markings and ITS.
• Develop proficiency in traffic analysis and modeling software including Highway Capacity Software Synchro
• Coordinate and interface with clients to discuss technical elements of the project and present results.
• Responsible for mentoring and professional development of junior staff

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

• 5 years relevant work experience post degree
• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
• PE in FL
• Must possess a US Drivers License

Preferred Skills and Proficiencies:

• Proficiency with MicroStation and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer
• Proficient in the design of ITS and traffic signals traffic signal timing and operations
• Prior experience with traffic analysis software such as HCS Synchro.
• Familiarity with FDOT design standards
• Understanding of the application of traffic operations principles including ITE MUTCD AASHTO and state DOT requirements policies manuals and procedures
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail is critical in the success of this position.
• Ability to work well in groups as well as independently.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience education budget internal equity project and location.
