You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailWe have an excellent opportunity for a Programme Assistant to join the Climate Change section within our Climate Change and Ocean Directorate supporting the operations.
The Climate Change Section focuses on strengthening the resilience of Commonwealth countries to the negative impacts of climate change as well as maximizing any opportunities presented by a changing climate. The Section facilitates human and institutional capacity development of member countries to access public and private climate funding in supporting member states to adapt to the impacts of climate change and assisting them in contributing to the global goal of climate mitigation thus enabling them to meet their Paris Agreement commitments including the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The Sections remit also involves influencing international policies mechanisms and rules to be more responsive to the development needs of countries that are vulnerable to climate change.
The post holder will be responsible in providing administrative and operational assistance to ensure the smooth running of the Climate Change Section and programmes. The job may require the post holder to travel overseas occasionally and must be prepared.
Responsibilities encompassed in this role include (but are not limited to):
To be considered you will need at least three years of demonstrated work experience in administrative duties and familiarity with financial procedures; experience in working with governments or international organisation in a similar role and preferably with an international element. In addition a relevant qualification in administration event management or similar. Please refer to the job description for full information.
