Job Description: Manager Testing (Transformers Industry)
Job Summary:
The Manager Testing in the transformers industry will oversee and manage the testing operations of transformer products to ensure they meet industry standards safety regulations and customer specifications. This role involves supervising testing teams maintaining testing equipment ensuring proper documentation and working closely with engineering production and quality control teams to ensure the final product is of the highest quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Test Planning and :
  • Develop implement and oversee comprehensive testing procedures for transformers including routine functional and acceptance tests.
  • Ensure that all transformers undergo the appropriate testing protocols before leaving the factory including high-voltage thermal mechanical and dielectric tests.
  • Manage and prioritize the daily testing schedule to ensure that all products are tested efficiently and on time.
  • Perform both routine and custom tests on transformers to verify they meet quality standards performance specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervision and Leadership:
  • Lead train and manage a team of testing engineers and technicians providing guidance technical support and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure team members adhere to safety protocols quality standards and regulatory guidelines during testing activities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the testing department and encourage innovation to enhance test methodologies.
  • Equipment Management:
  • Oversee the proper maintenance and calibration of testing equipment and instruments used in transformer testing.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure all testing equipment is operating at peak performance and within the calibration period.
  • Identify opportunities to upgrade testing equipment or adopt new technologies to improve testing accuracy efficiency and throughput.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Ensure that all testing results including test reports measurements and deviations are properly documented and archived according to company and industry standards.
  • Prepare and present detailed test reports analysis and recommendations to senior management and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and certification bodies (such as IEC ANSI or local standards) and produce required reports for audits and certifications.
  • Collaboration with Engineering and Production:
  • Work closely with the design and engineering teams to provide input on the testing requirements during the product development phase.
  • Identify potential design issues based on testing outcomes and collaborate with the engineering team to suggest improvements.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure the manufacturability of products with respect to test specifications and performance criteria.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure that all transformers meet internal and external quality standards.
  • Monitor performance metrics and KPIs for the testing process ensuring that efficiency accuracy and product reliability are maximized.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot failures or deviations from the standard determine root causes and ensure corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Regulatory and Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure that all testing procedures comply with international and national electrical safety standards as well as relevant industry regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations during the testing and operation of transformer equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Power Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in transformer testing or quality control in the electrical power industry with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of transformer testing standards and procedures including high-voltage testing thermal cycling impulse testing and dielectric testing.
  • Familiarity with international standards (IEC ANSI IEEE) and regulatory compliance for transformers.
  • Proficiency in test equipment including high-voltage testers insulation testers and other electrical testing instruments.
