What youd be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think thats all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things youll be working on when you start but this will likely evolve.
At the moment this role is focused on:
Coding in Golang to design build and deploy products that run across multiple Kubernetes clusters
Being on-call for the teams products and driving operational excellence
Partnering with stakeholders across Security Product and other Platform teams to understand needs and build valuable platform capabilities
Developing yourself and your team members in a high-trust high-impact environment
Youre probably a match if:
You have strong experience in software and network engineering ideally as part of a platform or infrastructure team
Youre proficient in Golang and understand cloud networking in AWS GCP or Azure
Youve deployed and operated a service mesh in Kubernetes
You understand Kubernetes networking CNI Ingress and Multi-Cluster concepts
You have an understanding of networking protocols e.g. IP DNS TLS and mTLS.
Youve built Kubernetes controllers and understand the reconcile loop architecture
You have experience using manifest generation tools like Helm or Jsonnet to manage cloud infrastructure.
Youve built platform products that enable engineers to scale securely and reliably
About the team
The Networking team is tasked with building on Canvas core Kubernetes platform to provide platform capabilities to empower engineers to safely define and manage their services communication across a service mesh and their configuration. We aim to hide the complexity of configuring a secure authenticated and observable service mesh between services behind a simple self-serve platform API. Were looking for someone who has had experience with building and operating a service mesh at scale across many Kubernetes clusters.
