PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Dean of Students will provide leadership and guidance in order to establish and maintain a quality student management system and learning environment. The Dean of Students will collaborate with administrators teachers support staff parents and students to ensure systematic and systemic proactive and responsive measures are in place to address issues potentially interfering with students academic behavioral and socio-emotional well-being and success. The Dean of Students will support effective teaching and learning.

- Masters Degree in Educational Leadership

Experience
- Minimum three years of teaching experience.

- Office equipment such as cell phones multi-line phone system fax machines copiers and computers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Serves as an advocate for students and staff.
- Provides leadership of staff and students.
- Manages student discipline issues including attendance and works with teaching teams to provide a positive collaborative learning environment in all classrooms.
- Communicates with parents and staff pertaining to attendance and behavior issues.
- Work collaboratively with the Facilitator of Family Outreach on truancy issues.
- Work with the administrative team to collect and analyze data regarding attendance tardies and behavior to improve student academic performance.
- Act as a role model to staff in the areas of behavior management documentation and positive interaction with students parents and administrators.
- Assists teachers in overseeing 504 accommodation plans for students.
- Leads the effort to design and implement new programs that reflect the changing needs of the student population.
- Plans conducts and attends meetings with students staff parents and community.
- Meets with outside agencies to coordinate services for students and families.
- Coordinates efforts with district school counselors and at-risk personnel to provide for the needs of students and families.
- Assists with supervision requirements beyond regular school hours on a regular basis.
- Assists the building administrator(s) in the interviewing process of building personnel.
- Assists the building administrator(s) in planning and facilitating professional growth for certified and classified staff.
- Assist the building administrator(s) in deploying the District professional growth assessment system.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
General Education Associates Special Education Associates Certified Teachers as assigned by the building principal
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating organizing and evaluating.
- Repetitious bending lifting stooping kneeling hand movement and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Drug tobacco and alcohol-free while working.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
- Occasional exposure to body fluids fumes noise and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 11-month position
- Administrative contract
- Per board policies and administrative guidelines
- Performance evaluated annually
