The Center for International Education at Madison College is seeking a dynamic and globally minded Study Abroad and Engagement Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will deliver comprehensive advising and case management for study abroad and virtual exchange programs while developing impactful campus-wide programming related to International Education with a focus on cross-cultural understanding cultural humility and global citizenship. This position will focus on supporting diverse groups including study abroad applicants virtual exchange participants international students and historically underrepresented students in international education. As a key liaison to faculty community partners and international education stakeholders this role supports student success through meaningful global experiences. Some International Travel included with this position.

Position Details: This full-time salaried position offers exceptional benefits including the Wisconsin Retirement System and is located at our Truax Campus in the vibrant and diverse city of Madison Wisconsins 2nd largest city and state capital. This position works onsite at our Truax campus with some opportunity for remote work up to two days per week.
Responsibilities:
Develops and manages study abroad resources by evaluating applications for study abroad programs and creating and maintaining materials forms and virtual tools to support student advising recruitment and program promotion. Organizes and presents at student recruitment fairs faculty/student workshops and other events. Manages Terra Dotta software system.
Advises and supports study abroad and virtual exchange students by assisting with program selection applications financial aid risk management legal considerations and cultural adjustment before during and after travel to provide effective support. Provides emergency assistance and delivers other support where appropriate.
Provides student advising and policy guidance by assisting students in understanding and complying with college requirements resolving concerns and connecting them to appropriate institutional resources.
Oversees student mentoring initiatives by managing a peer mentoring program (Cultural Connect) planning and leading mentor orientation and training supervising student workers and fostering peer engagement.

Strengthens institutional partnerships by staying current on international education trends building relationships with colleagues and organizations and participating in professional development activities both nationally and internationally.
Supports program development and evaluation by traveling internationally to assess study abroad opportunities collaborate with institutional partners and ensure program success.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills with experience engaging diverse populations including those from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and individuals with differing abilities.
Knowledge of international education programs study abroad opportunities and best practices for supporting students before during and after international experiences.
Knowledge of visa regulations risk management and legal considerations related to student travel and study abroad participation.
Skill in advising students on program selection financial aid credit transfer and cultural adjustment.
Skill in developing and delivering workshops presentations and outreach programs.
Ability to develop and maintain student resources virtual tools and promotional materials.
Ability to manage multiple processes meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to engage in international travel to support the needs of international programs and the Center.
Experience with Terra Dotta or similar software preferred.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education
Bachelors Degree required. Madison College would consider equivalency based on experience.
Experience
Two (2) years of professional directly related work experience in Study Abroad Virtual Exchange or related international education field.
