Job Description

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Recruitment Manager is the leader of the team responsible for recruiting prospective students for our Advanced Medical Imaging online program.

This position may have the opportunity to work hybrid where a mix of in-person work from a Boise State worksite and an alternative work location is utilized. Candidates must be able to work on-site as needed.

Department Overview:

The Division of Extended Studies is on a mission to extend higher education beyond traditional boundaries. Our collaborative teams expand student access and improve student success with innovative programs that reach across our metropolitan area Idaho and beyond. We facilitate online education community-based programs concurrent enrollment at high schools summer sessions continuing education programs and other lifelong learning options. Join us!

The Enrollment and Student Success Recruitment team is a dynamic group of passionate advocates who are all about having fun while providing exceptional support and service to students from various backgrounds. We make the recruitment process exciting by getting to know each student personally understanding their goals and helping them choose the perfect degree to propel their dreams forward. Level Scope:

Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees at the entry or intermediate level. Functions as advisor to unit and administration and sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results. Analyzes and resolves problems based on prior experiences. Interprets policies (e.g. fiscal management HR contracts and grants resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational financial and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

Essential Functions:
  • Management duties include interviewing selecting and training staff who recruit prospective students for online and adult-focused programs as well as planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of evaluating performance.
  • Manage recruitment team to sales process. In collaboration with unit leadership provide ongoing sales training with the student recruitment team and consistently evaluate coach adherence to identified best practices in sales communication.
  • Compile and present comprehensive weekly reports to unit leadership including but not limited to goal and stage conversion progress applicable coaching strategies and gaps in goal progress throughout the recruitment cycle.
  • Collaborate with both the unit leadership and individual staff on areas of opportunity in the outreach process or pivot strategies.
  • Monitor weekly workflow completion and ensure that student outreach activities are producing desired outcomes.
  • Track measure and evaluate results to continuously improve communication plans and team processes.
  • Train recruitment team on academic support services available to students; effectively communicate university policies and procedures to staff; ensure that staff understand and can articulate university policies and procedures to students.
  • Handle staff complaints and grievances and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Coordinate all work schedules to ensure adequate coverage to meet cycle of demand; collaborate with other supervisors to share projects based on priority; advocate for team member needs and identify skills or training gaps. Assist in coordinating relevant training for staff members.
  • Collaborate with leadership marketing team; lead team in creating implementing and continually improving application processes.
  • Recruit prospective online students who are typically transfer students or adult learners following industry best practices university policies and admissions requirements.
  • Proactively follow up with prospective students by providing relevant information about the university program admission requirements academic degree details and the required admission materials.
  • Problem-solve a variety of student related issues that will involve interpreting University policies and procedures fact-finding communicating with field experts creating options and deciding final action.
  • Train mentor and support other recruitment staff departmental staff and members of the Student Success team.
  • Take a leadership role in the overall goal progress tracking and contribute to sales strategy and implementation processes.
  • Lead assigned workgroups and online recruitment campaigns.
    Support escalated program questions and requests for expanded information on nuanced and complex program questions.
  • Engage in intentional and continuous efforts to improve service to and coaching of students which includes improving internal processes procedures resources and published content.
  • Provide accurate detailed information regarding admission and online transfer credit policies academic programs and degrees career and special services financial aid and scholarships and other opportunities available through Boise State online programs.
  • Lead student worker hiring onboarding training and day-to-day operations.
  • Lead and support a high-performing recruitment team through coaching feedback and professional development.
  • Manage daily operations including staff scheduling and workload alignment to ensure consistent high-quality student support.
  • Oversee onboarding training and compliance with recruitment policies and SOPs.
  • Serve as a functional expert in recruitment systems and processes; provide guidance on complex issues.
  • Foster a collaborative student-focused culture rooted in accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Marketing Advising Operations and other recruitment leaders to streamline workflows and improve the student experience.
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen coordination with academic units and enrollment services.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of prospective online student communication needs.
  • Experience managing success metrics in a sales or recruitment environment.
  • Strong understanding of the student lifecycle for online and non-traditional students.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills including the ability to successfully develop and maintain positive collaborative respect-based relationships with all stakeholders in-person over the phone or in virtual settings.
  • Ability to conceptualize organize direct and successfully execute multiple project-planning processes simultaneously.
  • Ability to prepare clear concise and informative reports on progress toward goals correspondence and other written materials.
  • Ability to handle situations using sound independent judgment within general policy and legal guidelines.
  • Ability to identify gaps in success metric and advocate for process improvement resources as needed.
  • Lead manage train and mentor others to support unified efforts in student services and engagement.
  • Ability to create processes to efficiently serve students and track success.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong ability to manage coordinate and deliver on concepts and information effectively while ensuring the university and department values.
  • Ability to use sound independent judgment within general policy and legal guidelines.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of integrity and enthusiasm.

  • Ability to compose written material with a succinct message and free of spelling or grammatical errors.
  • Ability to collect display analyze and describe data for stakeholders.
MinimumQualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree and 2 years experience or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
  • At least 2 years of experience recruiting online and/or non-traditional students specifically at Boise State University.
  • At least 2 years of experience independently supervising and managing staff including directing daily work.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience leading strategic change initiatives and cultivating partnerships within the field of student recruitment.
