Idaho Power located in vibrant Boise Idaho is looking for a Departmental Specialist to join our Power Supply team. Its an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Powers downtown Boise location we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

What does a Departmental Specialist do for us

Under minimum direction and acting on own initiative and direction provide complex specialized support for the Environmental Affairs and Water Resources & Merchant departments. This position will support senior and business unit managers and associated staff and is a primary point of contact for the departments.

Duties include maintenance of complicated data systems; research compilation and analysis of data for reports/studies/presentations; and supporting department financial processes. This role supports Customer Service in support calls regarding park reservations. Assignments often involve work of a confidential nature and require knowledge of the practices and procedures of the business units company policies and programs and other duties as assigned. This individual will provide professional assistance via phone mail and email making reservations and travel arrangements as well as department filings supply ordering and generally being a helpful and positive presence in the workplace. They act as coordinator of departmental projects and will provide guidance and training for staff on administrative procedures.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • Projects and issues to respond to internal and external inquiries and if necessary route them to the appropriate subject matter expert or ability to rapidly learn about projects and issues
  • The departments functional areas and company policies & procedures
  • Department-specific systems and software e.g. MS Office programs and Teams SharePoint Asset Suite etc.
  • General accounting principles document editing practices event coordination needs

Skills in:

  • The operation of systems and software including Asset Suite the Microsoft Office suite of programs Adobe Acrobat Visio One Note and SharePoint
  • Creating and analyzing specialized reports documents and presentations
  • Editing and proofreading to assist in composing and formatting the content of correspondence and technical documents
  • Creating and maintaining critical data and databases including data input and accessing data in programs such as SharePoint and AssetSuite

Ability to:

  • Manage complex department services and programs such as compliance filings and organizing small to large meetings programs and events
  • Identify issues develop recommendations and implement solutions
  • Create process and/or route material requests pay invoices and work orders in support of departmental financial obligations
  • Leverage multiple datasets to coordinate scheduling activities and departmental projects
  • Follow processes with a high level of quality and attention to detail
  • Prepare and track budget metrics research and resolve discrepancies including managing invoices material request running budget reports managing work orders
  • Document work processes and train staff on procedures
  • Understand the interdependence of processes and potential impacts to other work groups
  • Work comfortably in the field and on water

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of formal education and work experience

Preferred:

  • 2 years of company experience

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment fine motor skills including typing on the computer dialing phones filing paper and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
