Job Title: Inventory CLERK

SUMMARY:
Maintain stock room for transportation department. Purchase stock and maintain inventory of parts for repairing vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE:
Two years experience in inventory parts management
CERTIFICATES LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
As required by the Texas Education Agency
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of auto parts and terminology.
- Knowledge of automated inventory systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of purchasing procedures.
- Ability to operate a personal computer automated inventory system printer calculator copier fax machine and hand tools.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff vendors and the general public.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purchases
- Locate and requisition all parts needed for vehicle repair.
- Order or requisition fuel.
- Contact vendors to check on availability of parts and supplies.
- Work cooperatively with purchasing departments to develop specifications sources availability pricing shipping and receiving of parts equipment and supplies needed for vehicle repair.
- Ensure parts catalogs are current.
- Maintain parts and supply inventory and initiate purchase orders to maintain established inventory levels.
- Develop and manage a system to record and track receipt and issuance of parts and supplies.
Receiving
- Pick up parts ordered as needed or arrange for delivery.
- Load and unload delivery truck.
- Open crates and other containers to unpack items received and inspect for damage and defects.
- Verify accuracy of shipments by counting weighing or measuring and comparing size weight description and coded numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.
Records
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computer records required including computerized parts inventory.
- Maintain accurate records of all fuel used.
- Maintain records on parts used time spent on labor and cost of each repair job.
Accounting
- Detect and resolve problems with incorrect orders invoices and shipments.
- Monitor fuel and oil usage and review vehicle gas card use.
Safety
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting climbing etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Other
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in meetings and special events as assigned.
- Exercise professional judgment in absences; be punctual to work meetings and appointments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators staff students parents and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required.
While performing the duties of this job frequent walking standing climbing heavy lifting carrying stooping bending kneeling and reaching is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision and depth perception.
The employee must maintain emotional control under stress.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud depending upon the activity being conducted. Work is regularly performed indoors.
