Job Title: ScienceContent Interventionist

SUMMARY:The Science Content Interventionist will work with schools and district personnel to ensure the PK-12 District Math curriculum is implemented and improve student academic performance in math.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Works with school and district staff to ensure the faithful implementation of the District PK-12 Science curriculum
    • Attends scheduled training sessions and coordinates meetings with Caddo science personnel (includes sessions out-of-parish and during the summer).
    • Attends professional development activities that promote research-based science instruction address effective teaching strategies in science and focus on effective coaching and whole faculty study groups (includes activities out of the parish and during the summer).
    • Participates in monthly meetings with science content coaches to gather feedback assist in problem-solving and strengthen strategies for working with teachers and faculty study groups at all school levels.
    • Participates in training related to research-based science instruction and assists science content coaches in monitoring whole faculty study groups.
    • Designs staff development activities to enhance teacher knowledge of research-based strategies in teaching science.
    • Assists in the training of school personnel in the implementation of effective science teaching models.
    • Actively participates in the Building Science Focus Team.
    • Actively participates on the District Reading Leadership Team.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

    • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
    • Five years (minimum) of successful elementary teaching experience including science instruction.
    • Masters degree in education (or higher) with a focus on the Sciences is preferred
    • Twelve graduate hours (minimum) in science instruction at the elementary level with demonstrated expertise in research-based science instruction
    • Experience and demonstrated excellence in designing and delivering professional development in effective elements of science instruction.
    • Knowledge of science essentials and the implementation of assessment-driven teaching (preferred).
    • Leadership experience working with other teachers.
    • Effective communication skills
    • References supporting excellence in teaching communication professional development and

    expertise in research-based math instruction.

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Ability to plan and organize work set priorities and evaluate goals within established timelines.
  • Ability to work tactfully and harmoniously with schools staff agencies parents and the public.
  • Ability and initiative to plan organize and carry out assignments with minimum supervision.
  • Physical stamina and emotional stability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to hold records reports tests test results and conversations in confidence.
  • Neat well-groomed appearance.
