LOCATION: On-campus located in Tiffin OH

JOB TYPE: Full-time


Tiffin University (TU) was founded in 1888 and offers accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration criminal justice social sciences creative and media arts humanities education sciences technology and health. The Universitys campus in Tiffin Ohio blends traditional historic and modern buildings creating a vibrant and welcoming educational community for its students faculty and staff. Students can pursue associate undergraduate and graduate programs both on campus and online as well as at Terra State Community College. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Tiffin University is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team. The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Human Resources Specialist and the Vice President of Human Resources in supporting designated Human Resources assignments to ensure efficient and effective HR operations across all areas of the department. The Human Resources Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: administrative support HRIS management employee records benefits administration employee relations training performance management audits recruitment and onboarding policy implementation affirmative action employment law compliance and other related HR tasks. The Human Resources Generalist promotes our Guiding Principles through collaboration with key stakeholders throughout the University.

Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR department and the HR Specialist.
  • Establishes maintains and updates employee records personnel files and benefit records to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with federal state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Serves as an administrator for the HRIS system of record and supports HRIS data entry maintenance and reporting.
  • Coordinate and support employee benefit programs including enrollments changes and troubleshooting employee inquiries.
  • Designs and distributes materials for benefits orientations open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
  • Performs benefits administration including claims administration change reporting filing invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Works with external vendors and partners to effectively administer the Universitys benefits programs and to develop new programs.
  • Assist in the recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel including job postings applicant screening interview scheduling and new hire processing.
  • Responsible for the entire onboarding process including background checks reference checks payroll onboarding creation of offer letters and completion of onboarding paperwork through the HRIS system.
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Launch track and assist with sign-off and updating all new and current employee job descriptions.
  • Responsible for activities associated with the employee exit process including exit interviews terminating access controls and property retrieval.
  • Assist in training logistics and documentation.
  • Participate in internal HR audits and help ensure compliance with federal state and local employment laws.
  • Respond to general HR-related inquiries from employees and management.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
  • Support the HR Specialist and leadership team in various projects and initiatives.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual on the portal.
  • Participates in developing department goals objectives and systems.
  • Tracks and launches the performance evaluation and 90-day evaluation programs for audit compliance and revises as necessary.
  • Tracks all department purchases and handles the departments expense reports.
  • Assist the Vice President of Human Resources with IPEDS and AAUP surveys.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Maintains the University employee directory.
  • Assists in the evaluation of reports decisions and results of the department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches policies and procedures to continually improve the efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • May serve as a Title IX investigator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB

Education

  • A bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field is required.
  • A masters degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • 2 years of professional experience working in a human resources support role.

Other

  • Working knowledge of HR principles practices and employment laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook).
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Paylocity) strongly preferred.
  • Excellent listening and organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative professional relationships with staff and faculty colleagues.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Tiffin Universitys Vision Mission and Values.
