As the leader of the Memory Innovation team in the Cloud Memory Business Unit (CMBU) at Micron you will lead an extremely talented team of individuals with expertise in architecture design and development system-level usage models of different flavors of memory technologies and strong business acumen that is relevant to memory innovation.

Your team will be responsible for driving the Innovation Strategy within CMBU with a laser focus on developing the next-generation of memory solutions for Datacenter and AI architectures. Importantly your team will provide guidance to Microns executive leadership on investment choices in different memory technologies with an informed view of various factors ranging from market trends and technology inflection points to practical considerations such as high-volume manufacturability competitive moats and ecosystem dependencies.

A key component of this role will involve strong collaboration with internal partners in Microns Technology Development Corporate Strategy Advanced Packaging and Engineering functions as well as external partners customers vendors and research institutes. In close partnership with Microns Technical Pathfinding teams you will solve intricate technical challenges while ensuring business feasibility of proposed solutions to seize the opportunities in this dynamic field. This position demands influential executive presence as you shape company strategy and influence industry and customer trajectories to optimize CMBUs long-term portfolio for both ROI and strategic advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

Developing Innovative Memory Solutions:

  • Craft an Innovation Strategy: Understand inflections in the compute industry develop and implement a forward-thinking strategy for CMBU. Drive new technology developments develop innovative memory architectures for Datacenter and AI.
  • Collaborate Across Domains: Engage with internal team members and external partners to address complex technical challenges and seize growth opportunities.
  • Architect the Future: Use your expertise across domains such as logic and memory design system architecture Si and packaging technology to develop differentiated memory concepts

Business Acumen:

  • Translate Technical Excellence: Bridge the gap between technical brilliance and business outcomes. Convert deep technical insights into tangible results.
  • ROI and Impact: Drive initiatives that yield measurable returns on investment (ROI) while positively impacting our customers and the industry.
  • Financial Savvy: Collaborate closely with the business teams to align technical decisions with financial goals.
  • Competitive Outlook: Establishes processes to develop a critical view of competitive trends and develops strategies and tactics to win.

Industry and Customer Influence:

  • Shape Industry Trends: Drive Microns strategic direction in Datacenter and AI markets influencing industry trends.
  • Build Trust and Influence: Cultivate strong relationships with industry decision-makers and customers. Earning their trust is paramount.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Understand customer struggles deeply and co-create impactful solutions.

Executive Presence:

  • Engage with Senior Leadership: Collaborate with business and technology EVP and SVP leadership at Micron providing insightful analysis and recommendations.
  • Customer Partnerships: Extend your influence to senior leadership at customer organizations.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead a High-Caliber Team: Develop a team of senior technical and business authorities (Distinguished Members of Technical Staff or Fellows).

  • Ecosystem Building: Build an effective ecosystem for innovation and success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Amasters engineeringcomputer science or a related field is highly valued. BSEE required. Advanced education demonstrates a deep understanding of AI concepts and algorithms.
  • 10 years technical experience in the semiconductor industry in hardware architecture covering areas such as GPU CPU ASIC design chiplet architectures advanced packaging datacenter architectures power and thermal management in datacenters with a strong understanding of system interaction across hardware and software stacks. Candidate should show increasing responsibility/scope over time.
  • 5 years DRAM-related experience in a design product engineering quality hardware architect or business capacity.
  • Familiarity withmemory hardware architecturesand their impact on AI performance. Understanding of near memory solutions such as 3D stacking chiplet and interposer and their impact on system performance power area cost and reliability.
  • A deep understanding of data center systems architecture by way of designing solutions in this space.
  • Creative thinkingto devise efficient pathfinding solutions considering memory constraints. Demonstrated success in delivering technology innovation via past results such as patents leading industry initiatives new product concepts establishing new revenue streams
  • Ability toanalyze complex problemsrelated to memory and AI performance.
  • Teamwork skillsto collaborate with hardware engineers system architects and software developers

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$188500.00 - $375500.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role level and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors including knowledge skills experience tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits discretionary bonuses and equity.
