  • Support key initiatives for NSW in the State Rezoning team
  • Multiple temporary full-time opportunities until 30 June 2026. Creation of Talent Pool.
  • Parramatta office location (3 days onsite) with flexible working supported
  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $134504 to $143964 super

At the heart of the New South Wales (NSW) planning system the Planning Group takes centre stage. Driven by the NSW Governments unwavering commitment to tackle the critical housing issue we provide essential support and strategic guidance. The Planning Land Use Strategy Housing and Infrastructure (PLUSHI) team are the driving force behind the Departments strategic planning policy rezoning and infrastructure projects all aimed at making New South Wales a better place to live.

The role

Our Senior Planning Officers are responsible for high quality efficient and timely delivery of state rezoning projects that meet statutory obligations policy requirements and Government goals for a more robust and efficient state planning system.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant environmental assessment and planning legislation and processes
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement negotiation and project management

Essential requirements

  • Degree in urban and regional planning or other relevant discipline

About you

You will prepare state-led rezoning proposals and assess the merits of state-assessed rezoning proposals in line with best practice outcomes and benchmark delivery timeframes. You will provide advanced strategic planning advice to identify and address complex issues inform strategic planning and support implementation and delivery.

You will deliver competing projects in a dynamic environment and manage the competing interests of various external agency stakeholder and community expectations to maintain the integrity of the Governments planning program. You will identify critically analyse and evaluate key issues recommend innovative options solutions practices and processes.
