Role Overview:
The Lead Manufacturing Specialist will coordinate and expedite the flow of material according to production schedules. The role has responsibility to plan and schedule material/production needs as well as release/execute material work orders.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and update production schedules manage material processes and systems and optimize inventory in alignment with production plans and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Manage work orders in accordance with the production schedule from release to completion including shortage tracking scrap replacements and outside processes.
- Relay material shortages to the Sourcing and Planning functions and communicate shortage impacts to the Operations/Production team through fulfillment.
- Maintain a status of all work in process (WIP). Coordinate with the production supervisor/coach on upcoming work order releases to align with the production schedule and customer commitments.
- Attend regular operating rhythms and be prepared to discuss material status delinquency/delivery and schedule changes.
- Participate in and lead process improvement projects value stream mapping events and Kaizen events/projects.
- Work within cross-functional teams to support the production personnel identify issues implement corrective actions and drive Lean initiatives/improvements.
- Responsible for assisting the Lead Fulfillment Planner in managing the overall fulfillment process including planning and execution.
- A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. As a lead youll provide informal guidance to team members and be expected to take on the more challenging production control assignments.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in material planning production scheduling and/or manufacturing leadership)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in material planning production scheduling and/or manufacturing leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively while remaining adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Experience in S&OP process.
- Experience with ERP (Oracle R12 preferred) and understanding of business KPIs around cost inventory and cash flow.
- Ability to lead a team and influence others; strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to set priorities and execute schedule to achieve milestones/objectives.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Focus drive to work through problems and implement a sustainable solution.
