A bit about the role
Our Gilmerton Road Project provides short breaks and outreach support for children and young people (aged 5-18) with learning disabilities with a particular focus on supporting those with behaviours which may challenge. Were excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Domestic Bursar to become part of our compassionate and experienced team.
In this role youll create a warm and welcoming environment by maintaining cleanliness and ensuring nutritious home-cooked meals are prepared for the young people in our care. Your responsibilities will include cleaning and maintaining a tidy household including hoovering brushing and mopping floors dusting and participating in a deep cleaning rota alongside our existing cleaner all in accordance with COSHH regulations. Youll plan and prepare evening meals for our young people along with the staff supporting them encouraging positive and healthy food choices. Managing food ordering stock control and meal planning within an agreed budget will be essential with most meals being freshly prepared.
Cooking serving and washing up after meals will be a key part of fostering a homely atmosphere where shared meals feel like family dining experiences. Youll also prepare meals for days off to ensure consistency in nutrition and support over the weekends. A strong understanding of allergies and special dietary requirements will be required to create inclusive and safe meal options.
While you will not be working directly with the children and young people using the service youll be expected to coordinate with our team of support workers while they do so.
