Summary Description:
The Media Experience Teacher teaches the Media Experience elective class for 7th- and 8th-grade students at Bedford Middle School. This class focuses on various styles of digital media including graphic design digital media and video production. The teacher will also oversee the maintenance of the BMS website and Facebook page and the development of a morning announcements program. Strong knowledge of digital media and the ability to work closely with the administration are essential for this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Introduce students to various forms of digital media including graphic design digital media and video production.
- Teach students how to navigate software applications used in digital media creation.
- Maintain and regularly update the BMS website and Facebook page with relevant content.
- Develop a morning announcement program potentially incorporating video elements.
- Collaborate with the administration to create digital media content that aligns with the schools vision and goals.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student creativity and exploration of digital media.
- Assess student performance provide constructive feedback and grade assignments and projects.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate digital media skills and projects into other subject areas as appropriate.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in digital media/digital literacy and incorporate them into the curriculum.
- Ensure students use digital media tools and equipment responsibly and safely.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress attendance and other necessary documentation.
Qualifications:
- Valid Indiana teaching license.
- Strong knowledge and expertise in digital media including graphic design digital media tools and video production.
- Proficient in updating and maintaining websites and social media platforms such as the BMS website and Facebook page.
- Ability to work closely with the administration to develop digital media content that aligns with the schools goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and inspire students.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
- Creative mindset and the ability to encourage student creativity in digital media.
- Experience working with middle school students is preferred.
- Familiarity with the use of technology platforms such as Google Suite.
