Job Description
Director of Health Information Management (HIM) - Hospital Operations
Were seeking an experienced Director of Health Information Management (HIM) to join our 474-bed facility at Good Samaritan Hospital. In this leadership role youll oversee facility-based HIM operations while collaborating with our Regional HIM Director to implement strategic initiatives and maintain operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage day-to-day HIM department operations including staff supervision and workflow optimization
- Drive implementation and oversight of Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) initiatives
- Manage unbilled accounts resolution process and physician query systems
- Oversee release of information processes and compliance
- Coordinate with facility leadership and medical staff on HIM initiatives
- Maintain electronic health record systems (HPF/MPF) and related workflows
- Direct medical records management including storage retrieval and destruction protocols
- Monitor departmental performance metrics and implement improvement strategies
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Business or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification
- Minimum 3 years of HIM Director experience in a large hospital setting
- Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills
- Experience with electronic health record systems and CAC implementation
