The City of Greeley in compliance with Colorado state law includes a salary range for all positions posted. This law is intended to improve wage transparency. Job Summary:
The Economic Development Coordinator supports and assists economic growth and development in Greeley. This position develops and executes a marketing plan and is involved in business attraction and recruitment business outreach and retention workforce development and extensive networking and business support activities.
Experience Knowledge Skills:
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in economic development or related field.
- One to two (1-2) years of experience in the field of economic development (ED) with specialized ED training or certifications and strong community familiarity.
- Possession of a valid drivers license.

Any combination of related education experience certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Skill using Microsoft Office Software (e.g. Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint) fiscal impact analysis models state/federal database websites and CRM database management.
- Ability to understand the nature of economic development businesses applications and practices; basic land use and development processes and standards; real estate and businesses financing.
- Ability to solve a variety of problems in situations where there are substantially diversified procedures specialized standards and only limited standardization and apply sound reasoning and experience determine how to achieve the required job results while adhering to specified acceptable standards alternatives and technical practices.
Travel
Approximately 10% flexible local travel required.
Essential Functions:
- Receive direct leads into the office and coordinate responses with regional and state ED partners.
- Maintain property availability listings and submit appropriate locations for consideration.
- Develop a Business Retention and Growth visitation program for all sectors of Greeleys economy.
- Conduct independent business outreach visitations to each economic sector.
- Record contacts into a database and follow up with individual questions and interests.
- Participate in business networking activities.
- Analyze trends feedback and input from the Business Retention and Growth Program as well as industry best practices.
- Develop recommendations for City support of businesses as it relates to all City programs that interface with businesses (development finance services etc.).
- Establish Business Sector advisory groups and meet regularly with these groups to facilitate the improvement of the business environment for related sectors.
- Establish quarterly meetings with largest employers and the Mayor and City Manager.
- Develop in coordination with ED partners various leadership and business development seminars for local businesses.
- Assist with the teams workforce development initiatives as needed.
- Maintain relationships with K-12 Aims Community College and UNC as our primary education and workforce development partners.
- Monitor all development projects and offer as appropriate liaison services to facilitate the timely review and approval of the applications.
- Facilitate business incentive requests and serve as ombudsperson for businesses involved in licensing and other interactions with City staff.
- Monitor outside agency contracts for compliance.
- Manage contract payments; and meet periodically with contract provider to maintain liaison relationships.
