Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) the HRIS Specialist completes a variety of HR related transactions runs and distributes reports and serves as the point person for employee file related questions.
Duties of an HRIS Specialist may include the following but are not limited to:
Transaction Processing: Processes a variety of employment transactions in the HRIS including but not limited to promotions advancements separations returns to former roles FTE changes supervisor changes leaves cancellation of appointments changes in base salary shift differentials and any other HRrelated transactions
Transaction Corrections: Audits HRIS data and transactions for HR and State Payroll to ensure accuracy completeness and appropriate system updates. Researches and resolves errors and inaccuracies which include but arent limited to:leaves of absence transactions salary transactions hire dates rehire dates transfers promotions and preemployment data. Ensures data in the Stony Brook HRIS matches data in NYSTEP and other systems.
HRIS Uploads: Prepares and processes various batch transactions in the HRIS and other systems.
Correspondence: Prepares and sends correspondence associated with HRIS transactions HR compliance delinquencies Labor Relations Parking changes etc.
Report Running: Runs programmed reports and queries which include but arent limited to NDNQI reports Employee Health Annual Physical Reports.
Employee Data Requests: Retrieves employee data from the HRIS and responds to data requests in a timely manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
I9 Compliance: Tracks work authorization expiration dates throughout the month and sends prescribed reminder letters to employees and Employee Relations.
HRIS &NYSTEP: Serves as the main point of contact to create and edit nonemployee records and for duplicate records team. Reconciles and corrects transactions on Civil Service discrepancy reports. Enters transactions in NYSTEP for Workers Comp. Processes HRIS access requests in Jira and manages the workflow with the IT team.
