Job Description

Position Overview:

The CEO will lead and collaborate with the Board and senior leadership team in the execution of the strategic plan to identify opportunities for longterm success and growth including new programs services and partnerships with healthcare providers in the region. S/he is responsible for the overall operations of Houston Hospice and will lead the organization in the continuation of the highest quality of care. The CEO will direct the organizations robust operations in an effective and efficient manner. S/he will engage the senior leadership team in strong collaborative efforts to drive organizational performance and unsurpassed care to patients and families.

The CEO will serve as the face of Houston Hospice in the greater Houston metropolitan area and beyond to actively build strategic partnerships and expand the brand of the organization. S/he will be known as an outstanding hospice thought leader at the local regional and national level. The CEO will participate in local state and federal advocacy efforts which impact hospice care. S/he will support the Vice President of Philanthropy & Community Engagement in engaging current and future donors to advance philanthropic support of Houston Hospice.

Founded in 1980 and headquartered in the Texas Medical Center Houston Hospice is Houstons oldest largest independent nonprofit hospice. We are proud to be communitybased and communitysupported. Our mission is to provide uncompromising compassionate endoflife care for patients of all ages and their families. Our dedicated professionals focus on caring not curing by taking a team approach to care that includes physicians nurses social workers chaplains hospice aides volunteers and bereavement counselors. Houston Hospice is a member of the Texas Medical Center and is accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice as well as the Community Health Accreditation Program Inc. (CHAP). CHAP accreditation publicly certifies that an organization has voluntarily met the highest standards of excellence for home and/or communitybased health care. In addition to these great achievements Houston Hospice has also been awarded Level 4 partnership status with the VAs We Honor Veterans Program. As mentors we specialize in respectful inquiry compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement of Americas Veterans and their families in hospice care and we support other organizations who strive to do the same. Qualifications:

  • Meets the Executive Director requirements as set forth by state licensing requirements and CMS Conditions of Participation.
  • A Bachelors degree is required. A Masters degree in healthcare business administration or a related field is preferred.
  • Successful demonstration of management/leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare and hospice industry hospice operations business and reimbursement model trends regulations/laws and the local market.
  • Excellent skills in the areas of human relations communication organizational structure and agility and business knowledge.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary is based on a variety of factors and is industry competitive and commensurate with experience and skill set.
