Position Overview
Radford City Schools seeks a dynamic and dedicated K12 Instructional Coach to serve as a mentor collaborator and professional learning leader who supports teachers in delivering highquality datainformed instruction. The instructional coach will work closely with educators across all grade levels to enhance instructional practices analyze student performance data support classroom management and contribute to the development of effective teaching strategies that lead to measurable student growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Coaching & Mentoring
- Serve as a nonevaluative instructional coach providing jobembedded support and feedback to teachers.
- Model effective teaching strategies in classrooms across content areas.
- Collaborate with teachers to improve lesson planning instructional delivery and student engagement.
- Provide oneonone and smallgroup coaching to both novice and experienced teachers.
- Support the implementation of evidencebased instructional practices aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs).
Professional Development
- Plan coordinate and deliver highquality professional development sessions aligned to school improvement goals and instructional best practices.
- Participate in PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) to foster continuous learning and teacher collaboration.
- Stay informed of current research and best practices in pedagogy curriculum design and educational technology.
Data Analysis & Instructional Impact
- Support teachers in collecting analyzing and interpreting student academic performance data.
- Guide teachers in using data to set goals differentiate instruction and monitor student progress.
- Help develop and implement instructional interventions based on datadriven insights.
New Teacher Support & Mentoring Program
- Coordinate and facilitate the districts teacher mentor program supporting the induction and retention of new educators.
- Mentor beginning teachers in effective instructional strategies classroom management techniques and positive behavior support.
- Assist in acclimating new staff to the culture policies and instructional expectations of the school system.
Classroom Management & Student Behavior Support
- Provide guidance to teachers in developing classroom management systems and behavior plans.
- Offer coaching in building positive classroom culture and fostering strong teacherstudent relationships.
- Support the implementation of behavior intervention strategies and restorative practices as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Virginia teaching license with a minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Deep understanding of curriculum instruction assessment and the Virginia SOLs.
- Proven experience in mentoring coaching or leading adult professional learning.
Preferred:
- Masters degree in Education Curriculum & Instruction Educational Leadership or related field.
- Experience in analyzing and using student data to inform instruction.
- Training or certification in instructional coaching models or frameworks
