Title: SchoolBased Mental Health Clinician
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
Terms of Employment: Nonunion Professional 200 Day
Location: KEC Oakleigh and KEC Beltline (50/50)
BROAD STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position would provide schoolbased therapeutic support for students with significantly complex disability and/or mental health needs in our special education Center Programs and in working with districts. Responsibilities would include individual and small group therapy family collaboration and connectivity with community resources such as juvenile justice system county jail community mental health and partnering agencies residential and group homes etc. Additionally position would include participation in countywide professional learning communities countywide mental health roundtable facilitate professional development and training and other opportunities as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and assess student mental health and behavior within the school setting
- Care coordination including training and consultation with school staff and families
- Participation in Building Student Assistance Teams
- Collaborate with educational and clinical teams to determine when higher levels of care such as inpatient partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient treatment are warranted
- Coordinate referrals and transitions to acute care settings ensuring continuity of services and smooth reintegration into the school environment
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review student progress recognize early signs of mental health decline and adjust support plans as needed
- Provide training and consultation to school staff on traumainformed care recognizing mental health concerns and responding effectively to student behaviors
- Serve as a liaison between the school and external systems including medical providers mental health agencies juvenile justice county jail residential programs group homes etc. to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support
- Engage in ongoing professional development through participation in countywide professional learning communities communities of practice and relevant training opportunities to stay current on best practices in schoolbased mental health
- Maintain open communication with families and service providers to align treatment planning and promote student success across settings.
- Support and guide parents and caregivers in understanding student mental health needs treatment options and strategies to reinforce coping skills and behavior at home
- Health and behavior interventions to identify the psychological behavioral emotional cognitive and social factors important to the prevention treatment or management of physical health problems
- Developing implementing revising and monitoring an individualized plan of care (POC) including an emergency plan for students with acute or chronic health care needs and completion of Medicaid billing.
- Psychotherapy services to include interactive insightoriented or supportive psychotherapy individually and in small groups
- Administering threat/suicide risk assessments and interpreting assessment results
- Obtaining integrating and interpreting information regarding a students behavior and conditions related to learning functional needs and supports necessary for success in school and the planning and managing of psychological services
- Assessing needs for additional counseling services
- Respond to crises including conducting suicide risk assessments participating in behavioral threat assessments and supporting school crisis response protocols
- Suicide intervention/prevention as part of crisis team support
- Maintain regular and consistent employee attendance
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by administration
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Experience with students with complex developmental disabilities preferred
- Clinical Experience with Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and/or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and substance use treatment preferred
- Licensed or limited licensed maters level psychologist counselor or social worker
- Knowledge of the etiology of mental illness developmental and substance abuse disorders and their treatment by a variety of appropriate evidencebased interventions; risk assessment and crisis intervention; and knowledge of community resources. Knowledge of systems that support school based mental health and ability to form partnerships with community agencies
- Must possess exceptional organizational verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with superiors peers subordinates local/state/national education reps and regulatory/funding agencies constituent districts and the publicat large
- Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity social justice and inclusion in all practices. Awareness of social emotional learning and the intersection of school safety and crisis response.

Salary:Commensurate with experience $67898 $87832
