Assistant Softball Coach
Business Unit: Athletics
Department: Softball
Reports to: Head Softball Coach
Position Type: Fulltime 12month

Summary:
This position is a 12month position who will assist with the softball program under the leadership of the Head Coach and the Athletic Director. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach with the supervision of the student athletes educational and athletic goals; assisting with practice and game responsibilities; assisting in recruiting and general office duties; and performing additional duties as may be assigned. This position will also be a Housing Supervisor in Student Housing and provide supervision and participate in an oncall Duty Rotation.
An individual in this position is expected to perform additional jobrelated responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A thorough knowledge of the game of Softball.
- Associates degree.
- At least one year of coaching experience.
- Ability to effectively work with various public and diverse populations. Human Relation skills of ordinary courtesy understanding and ability to stimulate motivation confidence and enthusiasm in students.
- Administrative ability to manage details of budget scheduling recruiting and supervision of student progress in academic endeavors.
- Budgeting organizational and communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of NJCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student athletes.
- Ability to perform work beyond a standard 40hour work week when workload requires.
- Either a copy of or authorization for a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree.
- 2 years of Coaching experience.
- 1 year of Recruiting experience.
- 1 year of Housing & Residence Life experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to community development.

Essential Duties:
General:
- Ensures the safeguarding of all confidential files.
- Attends and participates in all required training.
- Maintains a positive and cooperative work attitude and work environment.
- Performs other jobrelated duties and projects as assigned in support of the Colleges mission core values and goals.
- Submits Student of Concern reports when necessary.
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of respect for and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Attends and participates in all required training.
- Reports to work at assigned work area no later than the scheduled time to begin each workday.
- Maintains a positive professional attitude and work environment.
- Drive a college vehicle to the airport and certain local destinations.
- Model the Way for students at ICC.
- This position requires work and travel outside of MondayFriday including evenings nights and weekends to support the goals towards growth in the college.
Coaching:
- Assist in developing a recruiting program under guidelines of NJCAA & Jayhawk Conference which encourages student athletes to enroll in ICC programs of study and athletics.
- Assist in the responsibility for the development and fiscal control of the athletic budget under ICC state and conference guidelines.
- Encourage student athlete success by maintaining contact with student services individual faculty and athlete to help ensure academic progress and reasonable graduation rates.
- Assist college officials in advancement of student athlete success by actively pursuing financial development opportunities through official channels of college including Booster Club and ICC Foundation.
- Assist in the development and maintaining a code of discipline and behavior in agreement with ICC college policy so student athletes are informed as to their rights and responsibilities related to continued participation in athletics and as successful students.
- Supervision of players during practices contests and trips to ensure that athletes represent ICC in a positive manner.
- Assist with Public Relations and promotions of the college in community events.
- Perform additional duties as may be assigned.
Housing Supervisor:
- Participate in OnCall Duty Rotation. See description of Duty below.
- Communicate with college personnel and Bluffstone personnel.
- Submit reports and other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Report violations of the Housing Rules and Regulations and the Student Code of Conduct.
- Report parking violations such as parking in the Accessible lot or in a Fire Lane.
- Attend Housing meetings.
- Participate and assist with Room checks.
- Support the resolution of roommate conflicts.
- Assist students with lockouts. Ensure students know the fee associated with a Lockout.
- Perform Fire Alarm functions when necessary.
- Assist in evacuation procedures during an emergency.
- Performs any other duties as assigned or requested by the Administrator.

Housing functions: Vice President for Student Affairs

Independence Community College (ICC)is a twoyear educational institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It was established in 1925 as grades 13 and 14 of the Independencepublic school system. In 1967 Independence Community College legally separated from the school district. Construction of the new community college on a 68 acre campus formerly the Independence Country Club began in 1969. Classes at the new site began in September 1970. ICC campus is now home to the Academic Building Fine Arts Building Student Union Cessna Learning Center Field House Administration BuildingWilliam Inge Center for the Artsfitness center athletic practice fields disc golf course 96bed multistructure living complex and a 200 bedresidence hall.
By renovating a donated building in 2010 we expanded our college to include ICC West (2615 West Main Street). This campus is located on the west side of Independence and is home to our technical programs: Allied Health Cosmetology and GED/ renovations were completed in 2012 to accomodate our newest program Veterinary Technology. This stateoftheart facility includes animal wards a classroom lab surgery pharmacy prep roomsmall animal treatment food prep grooming and radiology.
ICC also maintains presence downtown through the ICC Foundation office and by partnering with the Independence Business Resource Center.
Currently our educational and support programming includes 35programs of studyfor Associates of Arts and/or Science degrees 11programs of study for Certificate completionStudent Support ServicesUpward Bound mens and womens athletic programs and a variety ofcampus organizations and activities.
