Job Description

This is a fulltime inperson position based at our Portland campus. Work hours are typically 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with occasional evening or weekend shifts based on community needs.
The pay rate for this position is $25 to 27 an hour.
Who You Are
- Youre passionate about food justice food sovereignty and community wellbeing especially in Native and Indigenous communities.
- You have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience in food services pantry coordination or community programming.
- Ideally youre familiar with Native American history and understand the unique experiences and strengths of urban Native communities.
- You enjoy working directly with people whether preparing food boxes coordinating deliveries or supporting walkin visitors and do so with care and professionalism.
- Youre organized and dependable with experience managing inventory following food safety protocols and maintaining accurate records.
- You build strong relationships with community members and partner organizations to support food access and outreach.
- You thrive in a teamoriented workplace are adaptable and are willing to roll up your sleeves and pitch in even when its not your job.
- You demonstrate selfawareness listening deeply centering others and taking accountability for your actions.
- You are consistently punctual reliable and dependable in support of your team and possess strong communication skills engaging effectively with diverse groups and adapting to varied contexts.
- Youre comfortable using databases Microsoft Office and email and youre open to learning new systems.
- Youre capable of performing the physical aspects of the role including lifting up to 30 pounds bending reaching walking driving and loading/unloading food boxes and donations.
- You possess a current Oregon or Washington drivers license and the ability to be insured under NAYAs liability insurance policy (i.e. no more than one major driving violation in the last three years).
- You either have a valid Oregon Food Handlers card or are willing to obtain one before your start date.
What Youll Do
- Coordinate NAYAs food pantry operations including walkin and appointmentbased services.
- Receive and distribute food from the Oregon Food Bank and other partners; repackage label and store food safely.
- Prepare food boxes for families and Elders ensuring accurate data tracking and reporting.
- Support meal preparation in NAYAs kitchen (approximately 8 hours per week).
- Respond to community and partner inquiries about NAYAs food services.
- Collaborate with the garden and food sovereignty teams to support outreach and education around traditional foods and food sovereignty.
- Manage and track inkind food donations; coordinate donation dropoffs and maintain donation records.
- Ensure food storage and service areas meet health and safety standards.
- Support data entry reporting and crossdepartmental coordination around food access and distribution efforts.
- Serve as oncall support for kitchen coverage and meal prep as needed.
