Develop critical thinking and geographical understanding at our forwardthinking independent school in Hackney! Head of Geography role.
Our innovative and academically focused independent school in Hackney is seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Geography. You will be responsible for leading the department in fostering critical thinking skills promoting inquirybased learning and ensuring students develop a deep and nuanced understanding of geographical concepts and issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic development of the Geography curriculum incorporating contemporary issues and technologies.
- Encourage innovative teaching methodologies within the department.
- Support and mentor Geography teachers in their professional growth.
- Develop links with universities and external organizations to enhance learning opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of teaching on student outcomes in Geography.
- Contribute to the schools focus on developing futureready thinkers.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Degree in Geography or a related field.
- Significant experience teaching Geography at secondary level including ALevel.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team and implement strategic change.
- Strong understanding of innovative pedagogical approaches in Geography.
- Excellent communication analytical and strategic thinking skills.
