Position Details: School Nurse
- Title: School Nurse
- Location: Framingham MA
- Duration: August 25 2025 June 18 2026
- Onsite/Virtual: Onsite
- Position Type: Contract
- Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. 2:45 p.m. Monday to Friday
- Student Age Group: Grades 68
Responsibilities: School Nurse
- Provide skilled nursing assessments
- Administer routine emergency first aid
- Manage the medical needs of scholars and staff
- Conduct immunization and asthma surveillance
- Conduct statemandated health screenings
- Coordinate medication and first aid procedures for all outofschool expeditions
- Act as a liaison between parents of scholars with complex medical or emotional needs and medical professionals
- Provide annual training for staff and faculty
- Interpret medical data for the faculty
- Provide individual health plans for select scholars
- Provide emergency medical care to scholars
- Administer and/or supervise the administration of prescription medication to scholars
- Counsel and/or educate scholars in small groups or as individuals concerning medical issues
- Monitor and assess compliance with immunization standards as per DPH regulations
- Perform vision hearing scoliosis and other healthrelated screenings as required by DPH
- Develop and maintain contacts with medical personnel or facilities for direct service or consultation
- Participate in meetings regarding scholars when medical input interpretation or consultation is needed
- Conduct formal workshops and/or informal training for staff as appropriate
- Maintain updated health records
Qualifications: School Nurse
- A valid license to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts
- A minimum of a bachelors degree in the relevant field.
- Valid certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- A minimum of two years of community health or pediatric nursing experience
- Computer literacy and competency in the use of existing technology
- Completed the required Massachusetts school nurse competencies or be willing to attend and complete courses
- Strong communication skills
