Resource Recovery Education Officer and Support you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe effective and efficient delivery of these services to the Hume community.
What youll be doing:
- Assist with developing and implementing an annual community education and engagement plan that focusses on driving positive longterm behavioural change across a variety of waste and resource recovery topics and achieves the outcomes of the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.
- Coordinate bookings promotion and delivery of education and engagement sessions (facetoface and online) to the Hume community including but not limited to residents special community groups sporting clubs schools and education institutions.
- Support the promotion of Councils waste and resource recovery targets programs and services as well as relevant State and Federal waste policies objectives and initiatives.
- Identify opportunities within crossCouncil operations and programs in other departments to promote and engage staff and community members in existing education and engagement programs and services.
- Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation plan to measure the ongoing success of education and engagement programs.
- Maintain contact lists and spreadsheets to track enquiries education sessions delivered and school and community group contact details.
- Develop collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders and community networks to facilitate participation in waste and resource recovery services and community engagement programs.
- Proactively increase knowledge and understanding of the recycling industry Recycling Victoria policy and keep up to date with the latest industry developments.
The skills and experience youll bring to the role:
- Experience and working knowledge across a number of functional areas in the waste industry.
- Experience in developing and delivering community education and/or behaviour change programs.
- Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and lead a small team preferably within a Local Government environment.
- Demonstrated experience complying with and working to Occupational Health and Safety regulations policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated highlevel of interpersonal communications consultation and negotiation skills including the ability to successfully persuade convene and negotiate to resolve conflicts.
- Experience knowledge and understanding of a range of services disciplines activities and delivery within a Local Government environment.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy psychology behaviour change environmental science management or a closely related field with relevant experience working in the field.
- Current drivers licence.
