THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Environmental Education Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the District management team by contributing to the creation and execution of effective communication and environmental education initiatives. This includes the development of engaging content and programs designed to enhance visitor services at Michaux improve forest management practices and foster meaningful engagement with stakeholders. By aligning these strategies with the overarching goals of the District the specialist ensures that educational efforts not only inform the public but also promote sustainable practices and strengthen community involvement in environmental stewardship.

- Fulltime employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch
- Travel: May include daily use of the state vehicle trainings and meetings
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime on an adhoc basis up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Fayetteville.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:- A bachelors degree in environmental education education the natural sciences social sciences or parks and recreation;or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
Willingness to work weekends and evenings.
Willingness to wear a prescribed uniform.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires a valid Pennsylvania Drivers License.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including but not limited to PA State Police clearance PA Child Abuse history clearance and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
