NDDOT Hiring Salary: $4567 / month

This position is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the Central Office and Materials & Research Building and involves a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the facilities.

Service Calls and General Maintenance: In this role you will respond to service requests and perform general repairs on doors chairs and other fixtures. Responsibilities include replacing lights and ballasts adjusting climate controls for occupant comfort supporting meeting room setups and maintaining clear safe entryways by removing snow ice and debris and applying salt when needed.

Office Remodels and Furniture Moves: In this role you will coordinate office remodels and furniture relocations assist with the design and assembly of modular furniture move files desks and other furnishings and support the relocation of power and data cables HVAC components thermostats and lighting for newly configured office spaces.

Mechanical and Electrical Systems Maintenance: In this role you will monitor and adjust the building automation system as needed maintain boilers and chillers and keep accurate service logs and preventive maintenance records. Responsibilities include inspecting and lubricating fan units belts supporting mechanical and electrical system upgrades budget planning troubleshooting and repairing system failures. You will also manage proper chemical treatment in boilers cooling towers and closedloop systems and perform plumbing repairs or replacements including faucets toilets valves and pumps.

Assistance with Major Repairs and Installations: In this role you will support engineering staff with major repairs and installations assist service technicians during the annual maintenance of specialized equipment provide guidance and assistance to contractors during renovation projects and assist electricians and HVAC technicians with major projects.

Inventory and Inspections: In this role you will conduct daily inspections of office areas to assess cleanliness lighting temperature safety conditions and overall employee satisfaction. You will manage inventory of essential supplies including toiletries garbage bags light bulbs filters tools and mechanical parts. Responsibilities also include contributing to budgeting and planning following up on Facility Management work orders and supervising custodial staff as needed. Additionally you will oversee special projects such as carpet installation flooring maintenance and meeting room setups; coordinate and monitor contracted services; manage all building maintenance activities; and communicate with management regarding issues and improvement plans. You will also participate in resolving building maintenance concerns and provide input for the Department Capital Improvement Program and legislative budget considerations.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Experience with building maintenance. A trade school certification or associate degree in facility maintenance HVAC electrical or a related field may substitute for the experience requirement on a yearforyear basis.
Requires a class D drivers license for travel to meetings and project locations.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
Preferred Qualifications:

Three (3) to Five (5) Years of semiskilled or skilled building maintenance experience. A trade school certification or associate degree in facility maintenance HVAC electrical or a related field may substitute for the experience requirement on a yearforyear basis.
This role requires the ability to work flexible hours and understand HVAC plumbing electrical carpentry general building systems ground maintenance knowledge of safety regulations codes and compliance requirements. Experience with maintenance scheduling budgeting contractor coordination and the ability to troubleshoot and repair common facility issues is helpful.
