Job Description

Summary


Help shape the future of youth baseball in Medford.

Were looking for passionate energetic leaders to facilitate the Medford Junior Giants Program a free baseball league for kids ages 513 focused on building confidence teamwork and fun. As a Junior Giants Facilitator youll do more than organize games. Youll inspire players connect with families and help manage practices recruitment scheduling and gameday operations all while creating a positive and inclusive environment.

If you have at least one year of experience in sports coaching or youth programming and enjoy working in a fastpaced teamoriented setting this is a great opportunity to put your skills to work in a brandnew role.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Must be 18 years or older at time of hire; and
  • Graduation from High School or GED equivalent; or senior in high school on track to graduate; and
  • One (1) year of experience with organized recreational activities sports and/or childcare; experience must demonstrate responsibility and customer service.

Available Schedule:
  • Flexible during preseason setup and meetings
  • Monday Thursday 4:30 PM 9:30 PM (starting June 16)
  • Some remote hours may be available

Compensation & Information on Benefits

The anticipated hiring range for theJunior Giants Facilitator / Recreation Leader IIposition is $16.79(first step) to $17.62(second step).The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education experience andqualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act.Threesteps are included in this salary range allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

**Please note: This pay range will increase effective July 1 2025**

Examples of Job Duties

Essential Functions of the Position:


In addition to the essential functions listed for Recreation Leader I the Recreation Leader IIwill:
  • Register patrons for classes and/or activities and take facility reservations.
  • Support frontline staff and volunteers sports activities arts and crafts games play activities for youth and/or adults and rentals.
  • Assist in the organization scheduling promotion and delivery of various Parks and Recreation programs sports leagues or services.

Other Functions of the Position:

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This position requires inside work and outside work. Inside work includes exposure to noise and distractions that can be loud at times adequate lighting and regulated HVAC systems in relation to temperature. Outside work can include exposure to a variety of hot and cold temperatures a variety of weather conditions including exposure to dust and wind. Both environments include interactions with the public.

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to accomplish each of the essential job functions satisfactorily. While performing the duties of this position the employee is frequently required to sit stand bend reach and manipulate objects. This position may involve extended periods of walking running crouching stooping twisting turning and balancing. Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials weighing up to 2550 pounds on a regular basis stacking tables chairs and moving sports equipment etc. Manual dexterity and coordination are required. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to accomplish each of the essential job functions satisfactorily.
