PHOTOGRAPHY TECHNICIAN
The Photo Technician assists the Photography Department with equipment inventory and management lighting studio and darkroom maintenance supplies orders and distribution as well as other needs related to the department faculty and student resources. The Photo Technician works with the Technology Department equipment checkout system to maintain photography gear repair and conduct inventory as needed. In collaboration with the Department Head of Photography the Photo Technician also works to generate content for the website page for Photography.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain photography equipment suggesting upgrades making repairs as needed and working on inventory.
Monitor usage maintain inventory and mix chemistry for the darkroom.
Work with the Department Head of Photography to purchase supplies for the department arranging for pickup or delivery as needed.
Research and recommend upgrades for photographic equipment for the darkroom lighting studio and Technology checkout.
Maintain equipment and oversee use of the Lighting Studio working with students for access and training as needed.
Perform repairs and routine preventive maintenance on photography equipment and coordinate repairs as needed.
Organize and oversee cleanliness of photo facilities.
Work with Department Head to stay within budget and track purchases finding the most cost effective supplies.
Assist with installation of student work for department exhibitions and hallway displays.
Conduct orientations for students using photography facilities that are not currently in photo classes and provide technical assistance as needed.
Work with Department Head to generate content for the website page for the Photography Dept.
Collaborate with Technology Department the Media Arts Technician and other academic departments on projects sharing resources and supporting equipment needs for curricular activity at PNCA.
Represent PNCA at all times in an ethical and professional manner.
Research innovative technology and assess peer and aspirant institutions related to Academic Technology best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Customer service experience within a corporate or education setting.
Advanced knowledge of photographic camera systems: large format medium format and digital.
Advanced knowledge of photographic practices and use of a professional photography studio.
Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
12 years experience working in higher education equipment checkout or service center.
Personal creative practice associated with photography.
Typical Work Schedule
Monday Friday 20 hours/week.
Occasional work on evening and weekends may be necessary.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Able to lift fragile items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Salary: $18.22/ hour
