Chemours is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our growing EHS team. This position will be available at the Chemours El Dorado facility located in El Dorado Arkansas and report directly to the Plant Manager.

The primary focus area of this Environmental Specialist role will be to provide overall strategic leadership and management for El Dorados environmental program(s) aimed at ensuring compliance with federal state and local environmental regulations corporate policies standards and guidelines and sitespecific requirements. In addition this resource will also support other EHS related tasks to meet team and site needs. This individual is expected to exhibit a positive safety attitude a behavior consistent with the excellent Work Environment and serve as an advocate for excellence in EHS performance

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical guidance expertise and leadership as the site environmental resource.

  • Lead the site compliance efforts for adherence to Clean Water Act NPDES Spill Prevention Controls and Countermeasures (SPCC) Storm Water Pollution Prevention groundwater protection and RC14001 program management.

  • Lead the site compliance efforts for adherence to Clean Air Act New Source Review New Source Performance Standards National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants MACT Standards Title V permitting or other air operating permits calculation of emissions inventories air emission reduction initiatives and other associated air program requirements.

  • Manage and prepare required on time reporting to federal state and local agencies including SARA 312/313 Title V Air Emissions Inventory Greenhouse Gas Hazardous Waste and the Corporate Environmental Plan.

  • Participate in regulatory audits and other interactions with federal and state environmental agencies and respond to requests or notifications from environmental agencies.

  • Prepare all environmental permit applications and renewals.

  • Complete environmental regulation applicability determinations.

  • Drive compliance activities with respect to regulatory and corporate requirements routine and nonroutine activities such as environmental impact assessments of operations projects or process changes.

  • Evaluates environmental implications on site process changes and participates on site project teams as appropriate.

  • Lead and/or participate in investigation of environmental incidents implement system improvements to reduce potential for future events.

  • Lead and coordinate 1st and 2nd party environmental audits and participate in plant staff audits.

  • Establish or update operating procedures and communicate them so that employees follow environmental requirements.

  • Assist in the development and review of environmental training curriculum.

  • Participate on both plant and corporate OHS committees / teams

  • Infrequent offsite travel (Less than 10% within the year).

Required Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • BS in a technical discipline preferably in chemical or environmental engineering environmental science or related discipline.

  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in high hazard chemical or petrochemical manufacturing preferably in an environmental support capacity.

  • Possess working knowledge of environmental standards and rules (i.e. RC14001 RCRA NPDES Clean Water & Air Acts).

  • Experience in various environmental related reporting (SARA 312 313 Air Emission Inventory CERCLA NPDES DMR MACT compliance submissions).

  • Experience in preparation of Waste Characteristic evaluations for offsite waste disposal.

  • Highly motivated with strong problemsolving skills and capable of working with minimal supervision.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment with operations technical and maintenance personnel.

  • Experience in management of multiple tasks simultaneously within established schedules and timelines.

  • Possess effective reading writing and mathematical abilities.

  • Possess effective listening and communication skills.

  • Demonstrate computer competencies with common software applications (i.e. MS Outlook Excel Word and PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • Applicable safety certifications (i.e. CEP NREP).

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in high hazard chemical or petrochemical manufacturing preferably in an environmental support capacity.

  • Ability to interpret rules and policies and communicate both oral and written requirements purposefully and accurately.

  • Ability to conceptualize ideas and thoughts into actions utilizing appropriate planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to provide environmental guidance in emergency situations and release response including agency reporting as required.

  • Ability to network and positively interact with other safety professionals.

Annual Bonus Target:

The pay range and incentives listed above is a general guideline based on the primary location of this job only andnot a guarantee oftotal compensation. Factorsconsidered in extending a compensation offer include (but are notlimitedto) responsibilities of the jobexperience knowledge skillsand abilities as wellas internal equity andalignment with marketdata. The incentive pay is dependent on business results and individual performance and subject to the terms and conditions of the specific plans.
