Job Description
Orchard Middle School
1.0 FTE Continuing Contract
Description: Create lesson plans and programming for students with diverse needs; Implement strategies adapted materials and curriculum that will enable students to meet IEP goals and objectives; Provide instruction to students in their areas of eligibility; Implement behavior supports; management and facilitation of paraeducators; Management of student IEPs and educational plan; Collaboration with staff to provide supportive inclusive opportunities. Provide small group instruction for students needing to access that area of the continuum and continuous progress monitoring to maximize student learning.
Qualifications: Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement. Experience with writing and following the IEP and helping general education staff design and implement differentiated programming in core content areas. Must be able to work as part of a team and supervise placement of special education classified staff working to support the program. Knowledge of Special Education rules (state and federal). Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills a positive attitude and proven ability for organization and meeting timelines. This job may require prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are key functions for this position.
