Job Description

Hours Per Day:

6.25 hours

SUMMARY

Under basic supervision contacts students with unexcused absences from school/classes; intervenes with student to resolve attendance issues and maintains case files on offenders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following representative duties knowledge and skills. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Contacts students with unexcused absences from school and from classes; interviews student to determine nature of absences; completes paperwork and develops case file.
  • Contacts teachers counselors and parents and develops intervention strategies; monitors students for rules infractions updates case files and coordinates intervention activities.
  • Provides a variety of student support and administrative duties; crosstrains in other MPS functions; updates and maintains electronic and paper files records reports and documents.
  • Supports the relationship between the Minot Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients visitors and District staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of workrelated issues client records and District information; follows compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.

Education Training and Experience Guidelines

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of administrative support experience preferably in an educational environment; OR an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Knowledge of:

  • Principles of record keeping and records management.
  • Dealing tactfully and courteously with students using patience understanding and caring.

Skill in:

  • Monitoring and improving student behavior and learning skills.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A valid North Dakota State Drivers License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a standard office and school environment.

This position is subject to veterans preference.
