DEFINITION
An employee assigned to this position will assist with the collection analysis and dissemination of assessment data in elementary and middle Title I schools. This position will also utilize various analysis techniques and strategies sufficient for analyzing student data to assess the impact of specific instructional strategies on the continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Coordinator of Assessment Research and Accountability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CLASS (Performs a variety of duties itemized below.)
Train end users on various local assessment applications including product usage and interpretation of available reports. Audiences may include curriculum and instruction personnel principals assistant principals and teachers.
With general supervision from the senior coordinator of ARA plan out an implementation for a particular test (for example CogAT our gifted testing platform) to include: (1) Logistical planning; (2) Training of necessary staff; (3) Technical planning; (4) Scheduling; and (5) Supporting school personnel during testing.
Assist with troubleshooting errors on all local assessment applications and interface with vendors to summarize issues.
Prepare summary tables and graphs/visualizations to help with School Board or other presentations.
Interact with Title I staff on a regular basis to assist with the following tasks:
Regularly assist Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) personnel with formatting and scheduling of all unit assessments. Offer trainings on interpretation of unit assessment data and instructional implications as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some knowledge of Preschool and Title I programs in Virginia.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required. As examples should be able to comfortably sort/filter data create pivot tables and write advanced formulas such as VLOOKUP COUNTIF IF MATCH etc. with an understanding of relative and absolute cell references. Ability to write macros is a plus.
Ability to create PowerPoint presentations with little to no assistance.
Ability to create graphs and other visualizations using Excel or other applications.
Some experience using and/or managing assessment applications. Schoolnet and/or Canvas is a big plus.
Experience with Microsoft Access desired but not required. If no experience then verifiable successful completion of training (at Norfolk Public Schools expense) is required within six months in start date in the position.
Ability to work with limited supervision and meet deadlines for all projects.
MINIMUM EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in education social sciences statistics computer science or related field; Masters preferred.
3 years in a school setting preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Collegiate Professional License.
