Job Description

Position Title: MTSSB Assistant Director

Salary Range: $90000$95000

Reports To: MTSSB Director

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Education Special Education Educational Leadership Public Health Counseling Mental Health School Psychology Social Work or 5 years of demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Multilingual language skills preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Systems building systems change and alignment work
    • Team facilitation and strategic action planning specifically with Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
    • Leading school teams through improving school climate and culture for staff and students
    • Moving school teams from planning to action supporting youth at risk of disengagement from school
    • Violence prevention work in schools and/or community settings

Specific Core Function:

The Assistant MTSSB Director will work closely with the MTSSB Director and Director of School Counseling to implement NHs MultiTiered System of Support for Behavioral Health & Wellness (MTSSB) framework across the Manchester School District building and maintaining safe supportive and positive learning environments in each school. The Assistant Director will facilitate school team meetings working through the process of adapting systems and practices to a schools culture and context which will include strong collaboration with community partners in the school setting who are supporting student behavioral health and school safety. The Assistant Director will take on a leadership role to guide MTSSB District Coaches and school teams using fidelity and outcome data to develop strategic action plans that work to continuously improve school climate attendance behavior and safety for all students and staff. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the MTSSB Director to troubleshoot areas of concern in the MTSSB framework districtwide and identified through school or community public health data. The Assistant Director will actively seek funding opportunities with the Director and identify existing resources in the schools and community that build capacity and sustainability for the MTSSB framework across the District.

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Provide coaching in the form of team facilitation and action planning to designated schools in the District.
  • Ensure teams and school staff complete assessments according to the MTSSB evaluation schedule.
  • Provide technical assistance to teams by guiding them through data analysis and strategic planning.
  • Work closely with the MTSSB Director writing or updating policies that support the MTSSB framework.
  • Improve crossagency collaboration and coordination. Align building administrators and staff with community partners in the school as they work toward a shared framework to support student behavioral health and school safety.
  • Facilitate or CoFacilitate District team meetings that are specific to MTSSB.
  • Assist the MTSSB Director with writing proposals and securing state federal and private grant funding to address gaps and needs in the Districts MTSSB framework.
  • Provide professional development that aligns to practices in the MTSSB framework for school administration staff and community partners.
  • Work closely with the MTSSB Director to build systems and practices in collaboration with community partners that leverage existing resources growing capacity to support atrisk justice involved historically marginalized and disengaged youth in the Districts schools.
  • Provide updates with the MTSSB Director to the Board of School Committee (BOSC) on the implementation of MTSSB across the District.

Specified Length/Hours of Position:

This is a nonaffiliated 228day salaried position with benefits and is contingent upon grant funding through 9/30/28.
