Job Description

Provides PreK students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Works in a team departmental or itinerant capacity as assigned. Enables students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Model KISD core organizational beliefs and values; communicate openly and effectively within and across teams; and manage resources to effectively support District goals.
  • Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in crossfunctional work groups.
  • Maintain a commitment to the District mission; model District expectations through personal leadership and actively support the efforts of others to achieve District goals.
  • Utilize effective communication and collaboration skills between and among various areas of the organization to maximize service delivery program development and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of Districts curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required; present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative regulations.
  • Actively engage students in the learning process; plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Monitor and assess academic progress of students through formal and informal assessments; ensure that assessment and feedback are aligned with goals and objectives; provide opportunities for relearning and reevaluation of material.
  • Identify students who are AtRisk and develop appropriate strategies to assist these students.
  • Utilize technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Monitor attendance of all students in assigned classes; contact parents counselors or other school officials regarding an intervention plan for students with serious attendance problems.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and administration to improve State assessment performance of all students on the campus.
  • Effectively implement the disciplinemanagement procedures approved by the campus; interact with students in an equitable manner including the fair application of rules.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with assigned campuses based on a shared commitment to instructional initiatives.
  • Continually learn and build personal and professional capacity.
  • Maintain a supportive positive courteous respectful and professional attitude regarding all aspects of the job responsibilities administration and District/campus goals.
  • Positively represent Keller ISD and the District administration at public venues and/or
  • activities; maintain a professional appearance manner and work habit.
  • Develop and implement systems to enhance the positive work environment as aligned with Core Documents.
  • Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile maintain file and secure all physical and computerized reports records and other required documents.
  • Pursue professional development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that professional development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
  • Comply with all policies operating procedures legal requirements and verbal and written directives.
  • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of academic subject(s) assigned
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate in Early Childhood
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate in English as a Second Language (preferred and will be required for contract renewal)

Experience:

  • Successful student teaching experience or approved internship

MENTAL/PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
  • Frequent standing stooping bending pulling and pushing
