You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailNichols School seeks a passionate versatile and studentcentered Middle School Drama Teacher to join our dynamic arts faculty. This position includes teaching drama electives to students in grades 5 6 7 and 8 as well as directing plays and running an afterschool theatre club as part of the schools performing arts curriculum. The ideal candidate will bring energy creativity and a collaborative spirit to help nurture students confidence and artistic expression through theatre.
DUTIES:
Teach elective theatre classes for 5th 6th 7th and 8th grade students.
Develop engaging and developmentally appropriate curricula in areas such as acting playwriting and technical theatre.
Direct student theatrical productions as part of your theatre curriculum and collaborate with faculty to integrate performances into school life.
Lead and supervise an afterschool drama club.
Foster a classroom environment that encourages inclusivity student engagement risktaking and personal growth.
Communicate effectively with students parents and colleagues.
Maintain organized records of student progress and performance.
Serve as a Middle School advisor.
Communicate with parents proactively positively and professionally to support the academic socialemotional and physical needs of students.
Engage in continued professional development.
Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
Attend scheduled division grade team and department meetings.
Participate in the traditions culture and events of the Middle School.
Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole as assigned. The capacity to contribute in other areas is a valuable consideration
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Theatre Theatre Education or a closely related field (Masters preferred).
Teaching experience in a school or educational setting is a plus.
Strong knowledge in multiple aspects of theatre: acting directing playwriting design and technical theatre.
Creative and innovative approach to theater education.
Experience directing student productions.
Excellent communication classroom management and organizational skills.
Selfmotivated flexible and collaborative team player.
A passion for working with middle school students and the ability to inspire and engage them.
Genuine concern for students and their learning success.
Collaborative approach to working with other faculty members administrators and staff to further its mission.
Excellent interpersonal and classroom management skills.
Ability to be flexible and go with the flow in a dynamic school setting.
Willingness to contribute to the broader school community
