SUMMARY:

The Environmental Deputy Director position is responsible for providing leadership direction and oversight to the staff you supervise. This includes but is not limited to establishing and implementing the Groups objectives developing and implementing growth strategies for both individuals and the Group and ensuring these strategies and plans are in alignment with the overall company vision. The Environmental Deputy Director assists with monitoring to ensure staffing levels are adequate and that all personnel possess the competencies and skills necessary to support growth and the delivery of professional work products and that group goals are achieved. The Environmental Deputy Director reports directly to a Director or Managing Director.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge Skills and Abilities):

  • B.S. in Natural Resource Biology Environmental Science Ecology Wildlife Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in natural resources consulting project management and business development.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a project manager overseeing budgets schedules and project execution.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role overseeing junior staff including responsibility for assigning tasks providing feedback and supporting professional development preferred.
  • Experience conducting environmental surveys (i.e. wetlands T&E) permitting and field implementation for various projects.
  • Strong knowledge of federal state and local environmental laws (CWA ESA NEPA etc.).
  • Proven experience in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast including familiarity with statespecific environmental regulations and permitting.
  • Experience in working and negotiating cooperatively with local state and federal regulators.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite strong people skills excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and maintain an insurable driving record.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mentor and manage junior staff. Must take an active role in the personal and professional growth/development of staff.
  • Must attend at least one yearly leadership training.
  • Take leadership role in business development including generating new client relationships and maintaining existing client relationships.
  • Manage larger projects from proposal phase through closeout including preparing cost estimates scheduling and directing the necessary fieldwork and subsequent reporting permit application preparation client interaction reviewing and approving invoices and closing out projects.
  • Delegate project work and monitor workload and progress as needed.
  • Track Manage and Achieve: staff and group utilization goals; accounts receivable goals for the group; and revenue and gross margin goals.
  • Assist the Director or Managing Director with annual budgets.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks timely while ensuring group staff compliance as well.
  • Ensure that project managers are coordinating with clients and agency personnel at the appropriate frequency and intervals to meet project objectives.
  • Manage safety compliance with all client and internal requirements/training.
  • Provide regular feedback to staff on performance toward individual and group goals.
  • Participate in professional associations to grow yourself and your employees to ensure the company remains relevant within the local environmental community.
